7474 » The course „The toughest and longest Trophy of all times“, is what sports director Tomm Wolf had promised with a diabolical grin. And the man was right. To find the best trails through the Rockies, Tomm spent weeks in advance on a scouting tour. He was given more than capable support by the locals, Pat Horan, for example, who knows the area like the back of his hand. The result was 7 day tours through the massive mountains, each with an average of 350 kilometers and spiked with 20 tricky special stages, for example, broom hockey, a paddling race, navigation test, tractor pulling, a lumberjack competition, agility course, ... The trail runs off-road for close to 70 percent, a perfect blend of fast gravel tracks, narrow single trails, stony slopes and sandy sections. It was created to demand the max from rider and machine. And the rest are well constructed twisting roads. Icy winds at high speeds, slippery wooden bridges, tracks which turn into muddy nightmares when it rains, landslides, traversing icy rivers and crossing sheer impassable high mountain passes all test the participants‘ capacity for suffering. And it does you proud, coasting into one of the small communities like Nelson, Nakusp or Christina Lake at the end of the day, albeit worn out but happy, and to be greeted by the friendly inhabitants with a welcoming beer!
