1990 1995 2000 2005 2010 2015 2013 2013 Zimbabw eZambia Botswan a Reality check - ZimZamBot– amotorcycletourthrough Zimbabwe, Zambia and Bo- tswana Together with four friends, Herbert and Ra- mona make their way to Zimbabwe, a count- ry which continues to write negative headlines with political and economical disasters. They want to see the true picture, not the TV reality - with first hand experiences. And who better to tell these than the indige- nous population? Are they courageous enough despite the omnipresent fear of political persecution? Dictator Rober Mugabe has been governing the country for 35 years with a fist of iron. And the travelers are also at the mercy of the police apparatus. Permanent checks and roadblocks are daily routine. They battle with corrupt officials, are treated as spies and only miss being arrested. Nonetheless, they experience true hospitality among the simple people. ZimZamBot is more than just a snapshot of a torn and yet beautiful country! It is an expedition into the unknown and requires leaving your own comfort zone. The motto of the tour was „All about Adventure“. Four different generations of BMW adventure motorcycles were available as transportation. Herbert tested the brand new water boxer (BMW R 1200 GS Adventure, 2014). Ramona and cameraman Jan Peter Sölter both piloted a BMW F 800 GS Adventure. Adventure photographer Jon Beck rides a BMW R 1150 GS of the first generation, and director Wolfgang Danner pilots a second generation BMW R 1200 GS Adventure. Actor and BMX professional Kurt Yaeger rides the BMW F 800 GS with Touratech long-distance travel trim. The enduros cover close to 5000 kilometers of twisting asphalt, red sand, gravel and salt. The landscape changes continuously. Savannah with mystic Baobabs alterna- te with evergreen cloudy forests along the slopes of Mount Selinda. In the east, the cragged mountains of the Eastern Highlands greet us with a true bonanza of bends. The Victoria Falls are one of nature‘s gigantic spectacles. This is where the Zambesi river rushes 110 meters into a deep canyon with amazing force over a length of 1708 meters. Unforgettable the night on a salt pan in Botswana. Kokonje Island, they say, is a quiet, holy place. The tents are protected by an ancient Baobab tree. And above us, the clearest starry sky you can imagine. DVD – „All About Adventure“ 091-0227
